Things have been quiet here at moogieman.com but there has in fact been quite a lot going on. First of all I’ve managed to produce the first live video from the EP launch gig at the Albion Beatnik back in July, so here I am with the Masochists playing When We Vicariously Touch.
Next, I’ve been editing a brand new video for Marine Peilstand Drei (MP3). It was filmed in Malta with my other half, and Masochist, Claire LeMaster, while we were on holiday. The location offered some 2nd World War coastal defences, albeit British, that could stand in for the German Channel Island fortifications that feature heavily in the lyrics. It’s now more-or-less finished and will be released online very soon.
Either side of the trip to Malta I’ve been working hard on the forthcoming Fruit EP. Most of the rhythm tracks have been laid down, including some live drums and percussion – an exciting new departure. It’s a bit early to speculate on a release date, especially as that will need to allow time for a new video, but it will probably at the beginning of 2015.
Finally, Moogieman And The Masochists have some live performances coming up. On Saturday 18 October we’re doing an OxJam gig at the Wheatsheaf in Didcot, 4.30 pm. Unfortunately the Masochist’s drummer, Vincent Lynch won’t be available for that one but Claire and I have worked out some new songs and cooked up some new percussion parts and drum loops to partially make up for this.
We’re also pleased to be part of James Bell’s Isis Tavern Bonfire Night extravaganza on Saturday 7 November and later that month, on Saturday the 29th, we’re playing at the Marsh Harrier as part of the Oxford City Music Festival.
